3 Things You Can Bring to a Metal Recycler

May 9, 2024

As more people become aware of how certain things can harm the environment, they start to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle. For example, many more people today have turned to recycling as a form of trashing old parts or devices. According to Forbes, in 2022, roughly 34% of municipal waste in the United States was recycled or composted. When it comes to metal, many things can be recycled. Here are three items that can be brought to your local metal recycler.

1. Aluminum Cans

Aluminum cans may be one of the most popular recycling items many homeowners have. When you take your weekly trip to the grocery store and buy yourself a 12-pack of soda, you may not realize how much aluminum goes into making beverage cans globally. Instead of throwing them in the trash once the drink is gone, save the can in a separate bag. You'll realize how quickly those small cans add up to a large amount. Once your bag is full, haul it down to your local metal recycler, and they will gladly recycle all that aluminum for you. You get to enjoy your beverages, and the cans get to be recycled to protect the planet. It's a win-win!

2. Copper Wires

If you've recently had a home remodeling project done, you may have dug up some old electrical wiring. If you ever come across old copper wiring, whether it be in old electronics, home phones, or other devices, you may want to put this aside for recycling. Most metal recycling places can recycle copper wiring. If you're unsure if yours qualifies for recycling, feel free to visit the experts at your local recycling plant.

3. Certain Electronics

Many people have old electronic devices lying around that have been unused for years. Instead of letting these devices sit and collect dust, take them to a recycling facility. It's important to note that certain electronics such as televisions or computer monitors need to be brought to a specific electronics recycling plant, but many other devices will be accepted at a metal recycler. Again, if you are unsure whether your equipment qualifies for recycling, give your local facility a call to ask about it.

By participating in recycling, you're doing a lot to help the planet. Not only are you reducing the amount of junk tossed in landfills, but you're minimizing the amount of energy that goes into mining raw materials.
